Coronavirus Outbreak: How to Sew a Mask at Home
Along with the Coronavirus outbreak, making a face mask becomes the top stay home activity especially for Indian citizens. Sew a mask at home for your own personal use or to donate to Healthcare facilities or other needy people. The CDC suggested wearing a face-covering any time you go out in public.
As with the Rapid increase in Corona virus-infected patients, the medical face masks have been running low.
Therefore, many organizations, businesses, and even the general public have been sewing masks for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers working on the front lines of the novel coronavirus.
On April 4th, the ministry issued an advisory on how to use home-made masks in order to cover face and mouth. It has described details of how to stitch a mask easily at home. Usage of the mask is intended to protect oneself and others in the community from the Novel Coronavirus. It lessens the risk of transmission.
DIY face mask
Well, we are going to enlighten you with the process of sewing a DIY face mask. Let’s take a look at the following material:
- Cotton fabric
- Sewing kit or machine
- Nonporous breathable material
Take two pieces of fabric and put the nonporous breathable material between them. After that, cover it multifold and make sure to keep it wide enough to cover your mouth and face. Now, fasten the elastic at both ends and make a loop to put it behind your ears.
After making a mask, do not forget to sterilize and dry it before use. In addition, use clean raw materials to make the mask.
About Home-made masks
As we are all instructed to stay inside the home because of the lockdown, you don’t have to rush into the public to buy a mask. As far now, masks density in shops has become very low. Therefore, it is better to stitch a mask for yourself and your family at home. The increasing number of coronavirus cases is increasing the duration of lockdown as well. In this case, it is recommended to stay home until unless it is extremely important to step outside. Moreover, home-made masks are comfortable, easy to wash, and can be sterilized as much as you want.
Before heading out to a public space, please cover your mouth and nose.
